We spend very little time on this thought - "What begins comes to an end". End is the ultimate destination. Time is just a road which leads us there. Hence, every action that we take must keep this eventuality in mind. It can be interpreted in 2 ways.
The first interpretation is that any action that we take does not last forever and the end comes in the form of consequences. So whenever we act, it should be the end (consequences) which should lead the way in choosing our action. Funnily, these consequences can be predicted to a great amount of accuracy. Such is the beauty of the human mind. More often than not, the expected consequence becomes the end but if the end is not what we had anticipated, then it is not our prediction which went wrong but the action.
The second interpretation is quite motivating. Misfortunes don't last a life time. If something ill has happened to us, take solace in the fact that it is going to come to an end. Sooner or later, is mere technicality. What is certain is that it would come to an end and better times would prevail. This interpretation is the mother of HOPE. Hope that things would turn in our favour. Hope that good would come after bad. Hope that sunrise would come after sunset. Hope that peace would come after war. Hope that rainbow would come after storm. Hope that life would come after death.
The acceptance that all that begins would come to an end helps me in realizing my own mortality and of the people whom I love. It helps me in accepting the judgement of God, for He is the one who made us ethereal.
Few things that helped me in starting this chain of thoughts are the foreword by Stephen King in his short story collection 'Night Shift'. He talks about how people call him a gross and a cheap writer. But he says that by writing horror, he brings us closer to accepting the fact that all of us would be gone one day. The other would be 'Tuesdays with Morrie' which gives a new perspective towards..... death! This famous conversatiton between Frodo and Gandalf in 'The Fellowship of the Ring' also throws light on what I have to say, “I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given, us.”
One thing that needs to be known is that though end is eventual, when would it come is the matter beyond the human field of knowledge and is the sole proprietorship of the one we call GOD. Another quote from LOTR reflects the same, “Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”
I have also been influenced by Desiderata of which I was made aware by my friend. It is a simple collection of verses but has years of wisdom hidden in it.
I wish that God gives me the courage to accept the ends of so many things that I would face in life.
After this thought provoking monologue I guess like all things in life my blog too has come
to an
...........END :-)
